Advocates Want To Stop Underage Drinking In Tijuana
A CHP Officer Was Killed By Suspected Drunk Driver
Jeremy Taff, Staff Writer
November 8, 2000, 3:39 p.m. PST
-- Local advocates are demanding action calling on local officials to stop underage drinking in Tijuana.

This in the wake of CHP officer Sean Nava’s death. Officer Nava was killed last Saturday by a suspected drunk driver who was reportedly returning from a night of drinking in Tijuana.

Representatives from the CHP, MADD and the bi-national policy council gathered at city hall to demand action.

They want more officers at the border, more roving patrols, stricter enforcement of the zero tolerance policy and more.

According to the bi-national policy council, about 500 drunk drivers are on San Diego roads every weekend night.
